I would like to start this blog with one of my favorite books for the past few years, which also happens to have one of the best book cover designs.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is the first book of the Millennium Trilogy from Stieg Larsson. Unlike most book covers in the thriller/mystery genre, the U.S. version of The Girl with the Dragon has a bright yellow cover. The subtle dragon on the cover is an element that ties the design with the book title but the subtlety sets it apart from the overseas versions (see bottom), which incorporate the dragon element in a dull way. Another thing I love about this design is the interaction between the background and the type.
